Composition of Departmental Personnel Committees
The department annually elects 3 personnel committees.
The probationary and tenured faculty members of the department or equivalent unit shall elect a peer review committee(s) of tenured faculty members. When there are insufficient eligible members to serve on the peer committee, the department shall elect members from a related academic discipline(s).
(The Committees, as a whole, must take responsibility for the following tasks: Probationary Appointment; Temporary Appointment; Retention, Tenure and Promotion; Range Elevation; Evaluation of Temporary Faculty; Evaluation of Probationary Faculty; Evaluation of Tenured Faculty (Post-Tenure review); Evaluation for Request to Emeritus status; and Collaboration on the Development of Individual Professional Plans. It is required that each unit indicate below which Committee is responsible for each of these tasks.)

The Director of the School of Nursing is eligible to serve on the RTP-B committee. If the Director is elected to serve on RTP-B, an independent Director review of the faculty will not be conducted. If the Director is not elected to serve, then the Director will conduct an independent review of the faculty. The SON elections shall utilize electronic voting. Votes will be tabulated using the golf method of scoring.

- Professional practice utilizing scholarly expertise that results in enhancement of ongoing activities in a professional setting.

RTP criteria for temporary full-time and part-time faculty (lecturers) include, but are not limited, to the following:
Category A: Instructional Performance.
- Teaching Performance.
- Positive peer evaluations based on classroom/clinical visitations.
- Mean GP A for each course is consistent with general expected performance of the discipline and class level.
- Student evaluation of instruction (student opinion surveys) demonstrate a pattern at or above the average rankings for the Department.
- Related Instructional Activities.
- Participate in the on-going development of course related materials.
- Participate in on-going course evaluations and/or student learning experiences.
Category B.
- Provide updated evidence of professional activities such as publications, presentations, research, and attendance at professional and continuing education workshops and conference.
- Demonstrate evidence of maintaining clinical expertise through on-going clinical employment and/or on-going certifications.
Category C.
- Formal or informal presentations to community groups which convey information about the faculty member's profession, field or the service of the University.
- Engagement in Departmental, School, or University activities or events which promote student-faculty interface and dialogue.
Consideration for Three-Year Appointments
Consideration for Range Elevation
Additional:
Full-time and part-time temporary faculty members who are eligible for a range elevation will be reviewed by the SON RTP-B committee. There must be evidence of high quality work for a range elevation. Their teaching performance must be judged to be "outstanding". They will be evaluated in the areas of Category B: Professional Achievement and Category C: Contributions to the SON that have the potential to enhance the quality of instruction, instructional performance, or the learning environment of the students in the SON. There must be evidence that the faculty member is current in knowledge and of practice in their specialty.
The SON RTP-B committee will use the following sources of information in determining its recommendation concerning range elevation.
Teaching: Required information to be used in the evaluation includes Student Opinion Surveys for all classes taught, and required written peer review/evaluation. Current vitae or resume; samples of classroom handouts and other teaching materials; samples of student's comments and reflections on the faculty member's teaching performance; course modification proposals; new course proposals; and evaluations of student academic advising when appropriate.
Professional Achievements: Professional excellence awards, presentation at professional/scholarly conferences; significant appointments; and professional/scholarly publications.
Contributions to University and Community: Practice and Service workshops and presentation; professional consulting; active professional
Memberships (example: holding national office); membership on advisory boards.
Currency in Practice: Evidence of on-going continuing education in areas of specialization, evidence of current clinical practice in areas of specialization.
